DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police are asking for the public's help in tracking down a Chevy Camaro they say hit a police car Tuesday afternoon before fleeing the scene.
Authorities said just before 4 p.m. Tuesday, officers were attempting to investigate occupants in a blue Chevy Camaro in the 19900 block of Oakfield, just east of the Southfield Freeway, between 7 Mile and 8 Mile Roads.
At some point, the driver of the Camaro put the vehicle in reverse and hit the scout car. The driver then made a u-turn and side-swiped the scout car, causing minimal damage, and fled the scene.
No officers were injured during the incident.
Police say the blue camaro has white stripes on the hood and trunk, and has two air vents on the hood. It also has a temp sticker in the back.
Police did not say how many people were inside the Camaro or why they were being investigated. It was not clear which direction the car fled. No descriptions of the suspects were released.
Authorities released photos of the suspects' Camaro and are asking anyone who recognizes it or has any information regarding this crime to call the Detroit Police Department's Twefth Precinct at 313-596-1240, or 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
