(WWJ) It's an incredible story with a happy ending fit to wag your tail about.
A dog that fell off a boat in northwest Michigan, setting off a massive search, has been recovered
WWJ's Beth Fisher reports the cinnamon-colored Goldendoodle named Roxy went overboard in Lake Michigan in Benzie County a few days ago.
Family members say they didn't see their beloved pup disappear off the side of the vessel as they were heading north from Frankfort.
Kim Oberman, of Chicago, said in a Facebook post that the U.S. Coast Guard and two jet skiers helped to search. She says she asked others to search and a woman found Roxy the next morning south of Pointe Betsie, hiding in some bushes.
Roxy was safe and still had her life jacket on.
Oberman calls everyone who helped "angels" — saying her post was shared 700 times.
"UPDATE ROXY HAS BEEN FOUND!!!!!❤️GOD IS SO GOOD!!!" Oberman wrote on Facebook.
"We searched for 5 hours back and forth, along with 2 amazing jet skiers & the coast guard helped as well. The waves were building and the conditions were getting dangerous for us so we docked the boat at Jacobsons marina & they alerted everyone they could about the missing dog. A fellow boater gave us his car keys so we could drive & search the beaches north of town.
"Two Other fellow boaters - two amazing women Lori & Michelle -Also set out on mission to walk the beaches looking for our baby. No luck last night. This morning we all divided up & set out again where she may have washed up to shore. Another angel named Lynn showed up with neon posters and markers and gave me tips and tricks of how to find a missing dog. These were all strangers but I swear they were angels sent from God. Lori & Michelle hiked the treacherous eroded beaches for 2 hours this morning & saw 3 signs from God that they were getting close to Our puppy - a tennis ball, a frisbee & a happy face balloon...sure enough they found Roxy hiding in a row of bushes still with her life jacket on safe and sound just south of Pointe Betsie. I cannot thank this community enough especially the boating community." (See photos of Roxy and her family HERE.)
