DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities say a 59-year-old man was trying to turn his vehicle around in a parking lot but ended up crashing into the Detroit River.
U.S. Coast Guard crews responded to an area behind the Shoreline East Condominiums off Jefferson Avenue, not far from Belle Isle, around 7:20 a.m. Friday after receiving a call about a car that went into the water.
According to police, a man crashed his car into the water while trying to turn around in a parking lot.
Shortly before 9:30 a.m., crews located the man about one block east of Van Dyke Avenue and pulled him from the water. His current condition is unknown.
