DETROIT (WWJ) - The FBI in Detroit is asking for the public's help to identify a woman who may have critical information about a child sexual assault victim.
The woman, who investigators are calling "Jane Doe 37," is described as a white woman with brown hair and dark-framed glasses.
Currently the only information that the FBI has about her is from a video produced in April of 2012, which features her and a child while audio from the film "The Land Before Time" can be heard in the background.
A sketch released Wednesday was produced based on the video, the FBI said; but due to the age of the images, it is possible that the woman's appearance may have changed over the years. The FBI also released two images of the woman's face pulled from the video.
No charges have been filed in what the FBI is calling an ongoing sexual exploitation investigation.
This woman is being sought as part of the FBI's Operation Rescue Me and Endangered Child Alert Program (ECAP) initiatives, in partnership with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Operation Rescue Me focuses on utilizing clues obtained through in-depth image analysis to identify the child victims depicted in child exploitation material, while ECAP seeks national and international media exposure of unknown adults (referred to as John/Jane Does) who visibly display their faces and/or other distinguishing characteristics in association with child pornography images.
