(WWJ) Four teenagers from Genesee County have been arrested for stealing from cars in Oakland County.

Oakland County Sheriff's deputies, early Wednesday morning, responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in front of a home, and people ringing doorbells in the Spring Lake subdivision in Independence Township.

As deputies were pulling up, they saw a vehicle occupied by three people leaving the neighborhood.

While those deputies made a traffic stop, another deputy, who was responding as backup, spotted a suspect dressed in all black clothing walking in the neighborhood. Deputies spoke with the young man who said he was in the vehicle with the others, but t got separated. He was then found, it's alleged, to be in possession of a computer tablet and a credit card which he admitted to stealing from a vehicle in the neighborhood, officials said.

The suspect was taken by the deputy to the scene of the traffic stop, where deputies had discovered "multiple items lying in plain view inside the vehicle signifying the occupants had been involved in multiple larceny from automobile incidents," according to the sheriff's office report.

Four suspects were arrested, including: two 18-year-old men from Flint, an 18-year-old man from Grand Blanc, and a 17-year-old boy from Linden, Michigan.

Deputies then searched vehicle and recovered stolen items and cash belonging to a 41-year-old Independence Township man and other residents of the subdivision.

The suspects were lodged in the Oakland County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.
