DETROIT (WWJ) -- The public is invited to attend a vigil in honor of Officer Rasheen McClain, who was fatally shot after responding to the scene of a home invasion Wednesday night on Detroit's west side.
The vigil will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the west parking lot outside the 12th Precinct, located at 1441 W. 7 Mile Road.
Detroit Police Chief James Craig and other DPD executives will be on-hand as the department and city continue to mourn.
A visitation is scheduled for Dec. 4 and 5 at the Fisher Funeral Home in Redford Township from 3 to 8 p.m. each day. The funeral home is located at 24501 Five Mile Road.
Officer McClain's funeral will be at Greater Grace Temple -- 23500 W. Seven Mile -- at 11 a.m. on Dec. 6.
McClain, 46, was a 16-year veteran of the department. He was killed by a 28-year-old man with a high-powered rifle after the officer and his partner entered a home on Wednesday. His partner, Felipe Batoum-Bisse, was shot in the leg and remains hospitalized.
Authorities have not released the identity of the shooter, as charges are still pending.
