(WWJ) General Motors (GM) is recalling more than 7,000 2020 Chevrolet Corvettes over safety concerns involving the "Frunk."

It affects all Chevy Corvettes built in 2020, prior to August 14.

The automaker told WWJ the 7,071 vehicles need to be recalled because the front storage compartment, or the "frunk," can fly up and block a driver's vision when driving at freeway speeds.

Drivers can drive with that front storage compartment unlatched.

GM said it will put limits on the speed at which a car owner can drive with their "frunk" unlatched and make it harder for it to accidentally come undone.

26 miles per hour will be the maximum speed a driver can go with the "frunk" unlatched after the fix, according to the Detroit Free Press.

WWJ Auto beat reporter, Jeff Gilbert, reports this is a software problem that can be fixed with an over the air update. GM said it will be done at no cost to the owner.

The "frunk" is a front trunk in vehicles where the engine is in the back, like the Corvette, and a number of electric vehicles.
