GROSSE ILE. TWP. (WWJ) - A Downriver teacher is facing charges for an alleged lewd incident at a park.
According to investigators, 37-year-old Christopher Metzger of Trenton was sitting in his car Commerce Park at Hornet Ave. near Fourth St. in Grosse Ile Twp. at 6 p.m. on Aug. 28, while a youth sports practice was being held.
A parent walked by Metzger's car and said he saw Metzger "engaging in lewd behavior," not far from the Grosse Ile Youth Recreation Association practice fields.
The incident was reported to police and Metzger was arrested.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced Tuesday she has charged Metzger with one count of Aggravated Indecent Exposure and one count of Disorderly Person - Obscene Conduct. Both are misdemeanors.
Metzger, who works as both a teacher and a coach in the Grosse Ile school system, was placed on administrative immediately following the alleged incident.
He turned himself in Wednesday and was arraigned in 33rd District Court.
The defendant received a $15,000 personal bond, with the conditions that he not enter Commerce Park, and that he must not attend any G.I.Y.R.A. events. It was not immediately clear whether he posted bond.
Metzger's next scheduled court appearance is a probable cause conference scheduled for Oct. 1.
