YPSILANTI TWP. (WWJ) -- Fifteen people have been displaced by a devastating apartment fire in Washtenaw County's Ypsilanti Township.

The building was evacuated, and there are no reports of injuries at this time.

The three alarm fire has broke out at around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Fairway Trails Apartments near South Hewitt and Ellsworth roads.

The fire apparently started on the first floor, but spread quickly, with flames shooting through the roof when firefighters arrived.

Fire Departments from Ypsilanti Township, the city of Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor Township, the city of Ann Arbor, Pittsfield Township and Superior Township were all assisting.

Reporting from the scene, WWJ's Luke Sloan said the fire was mostly out, but still smoldering, by around 9 a.m. It remained an active scene, with firefighter working on hot spots.

Sloan said the roof was severely damaged , as well as walls and several balconies. "I'd say at least half of this building will be considered a complete loss," Sloan reported.

Hannah, who lives in the building next door, was relieved to learn that her apartment was not impacted.

Now she says her heart is just breaking for her neighbors who lost their homes.

"Uh, I feel so bad," she told Sloan. "It's gonna be hard, and yeah... I just feel for them. I hope that they have a smooth transition to wherever they're going.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
