(WWJ) Emergency responders were greeted by a hostile crowd at the scene of a shooting last night in Pontiac.
Oakland County Sheriff's deputies responded to Shirley Park, in the 200 blk. of S. Shirley, at 9 p.m. Monday to find one male victim lying on the ground.
As deputies worked to secure the scene, sheriff's officials say the large crowd of people "turned hostile," shouting at and encircling deputies and medical personnel.
"They arrived and saw the individual laying there, blood pooling around his head and they were trying to render first emergency aid," said Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard. "And a group began to surround them and yell at them, telling them not to touch the individual and to leave."
Additional OCSO units were called in to assist with crowd control.
"We tried to diffuse the situation and obviously let them know that, clearly, we're trying to help the individual and safe a life," the sheriff added. "We don't want someone bleeding in the street and not render aid. So, we had other deputies respond and just tried to get the young individual out of there as quickly as we could get him on a gurney."
The victim, a 23-year-old Pontiac man, was taken McLaren Oakland Hospital where it was learned he had not been shot, but was run over by a vehicle. He suffered multiple cuts to his face, neck, chest and has multiple fractures, officials said.
During the investigation, Bouchard said it was determined that a group of people were making a music video at the park when shots rang out.
It's believed, officials said, that while the victim was trying to hide from the gunshots and fleeing car ran him over.
Medical staff at St. Joseph Hospital also reported that a second victim, a 34-year-old Pontiac man, had been dropped off at their Emergency Room with a gunshot wound to his arm.
Both of the victims, whom detective said are not cooperating with the investigation, were last reported in stable condition.
One witness described the suspect as a black male, in his late teens or early 20s, thin build, wearing a white t-shirt and red shorts, who fired from near a tree line. Two parked cars were also hit by bullets, police said.
Later, a little before 1 a.m. Tuesday, there was a second shooting that investigators believe may be related.
OCSO deputies responded to Stout St. on a report of multiple shots fired at the home of a 67-year-old woman.
While the woman said she doesn't have any issues with anyone, she told deputies her grandson was at a park earlier making a music video.
Multiple spent shell casings were found on the sidewalk and in the street, and multiple bullet holes were discovered both in and outside the house.
Both shootings remain under investigation.
