NOVI (WWJ) - Guests were evacuated from their rooms at a metro Detroit hotel overnight after someone apparently tampered with a smoke alarm.
It happened early Friday morning at The Residence Inn by Marriott, off Twelve Mile Road and Novi Road in Novi.
As it turns out, smoke that was reportedly seen on the second floor of the hotel was not caused by a fire. Officials believe somebody tampered with a smoke detector.
Evacuated guests were allowed back into the lobby and then their rooms after fire officials cleared the building. No injuries were reported.
