(WWJ) For anyone willing to venture out — Wendy's is offering a deep-fried treat.
The hamburger chain announced Tuesday that it will be giving away its chicken nuggets for FREE at the drive-thru only this Friday, April 24. And you don't even have to buy anything to get them.
"Come to Wendy's drive-thru this Friday and get FREE 4pc nuggets. No purchase necessary and not a single string attached," reads a tweet on the official Wendy's Twitter account.
Customers can choose either the regular crispy nuggets, or the spicy variety.
The purpose of the promotion, Wendy's says, is to return some love to customers during this difficult time.
"Not gonna lie, all this love y'all are showing has inspired us. We wish we could give you a hug, but instead…how about a nug? This Friday, we'll be giving out free 4pc spicy and crispy nugs at every Wendy's drive-thru," the company wrote.
A month ago, Wendy's CEO announced it woud be putting in place "enhanced safety precautions" to protect team members and customers, including utilizing no-contact and limited-contact ordering options and focusing on social distancing practices at the chain's restaurants. If you prefer not to go through the drive-thru,Wendy's is available for delivery through GubHub and DoorDash. Note, however, that the free nuggets is a drive-thru only deal.
Wendy's spicy nuggets in particular have proven to be a popular menu item over the years. So many people were upset when they were taken off the menu in 2017, Wendy's last summer agreed to bring them back "for a limited time."
