SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - A section of I-696 was closed for several hours overnight after a semi-truck crashed and spilled fuel across the freeway.
The crash happened just before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday along the westbound side of the freeway near Greenfield Road.
Michigan State Police say the semi-truck struck both the right and left walls, scattering a large amounts of debris and diesel fuel across all lanes of travel.
Troopers closed the freeway at Coolidge Highway so crews could clear the scene. The freeway reopened just after 4 a.m.
Other circumstances leading to the crash weren't immediately clear. Police say no other vehicles were involved.
No injuries were reported.
