(WWJ) An Inkster mom has been charged in connection with the murder of her toddler-aged son.
Atiya Nina Muhammed, 26, was taken into custody on Wednesday after police discovered Zion, 3, dead in a bedroom in her home.
The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office said police and medics found him when they were dispatched to the house on Leigh near John Daly on Wednesday afternoon.
Relatives, who had stopped by to check on the mother and son, were at the house when first responders arrived.
Muhammed was not present at the crime scene. The Detroit Fugitive Team found and apprehended her later the same day.
The Wayne County Medical Examiner determined Zion died from “multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma injuries,” according to the Prosecutor’s Office press release.
Muhammed has been charged with First Degree Premeditated Murder, Felony Murder, Child Abuse First Degree and Torture. She is expected to be arraigned via video later on Sunday.
