(WWJ) - Kohl's is the latest retailer to close due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The company says its department stores nationwide will remain closed through at least April 1.

"The health and safety of our associates and customers is our top priority. As a result of the escalating COVID-19 pandemic, and to do our part in helping to slow the spread of the virus, we are closing our stores," Michelle Gass, Kohl's CEO, said in a statement.

Customers can still have items delivered by shopping online through the Kohl's website or app.

As for store associates, the company says it will offer employees two calendar weeks of pay.

Kohl's has 18 locations in Metro Detroit.
