PARK TOWNSHIP, Mich (WWJ) - Erosion has been eating away at the shoreline along Lake Michigan for years and now, one west Michigan home could fall into the lake at any moment.
Officials in Park Township, northwest of Holland, say they believe it could just be a matter of days or hours before the home drops into the lake. Fire officials were watching the home closely Thursday night because of a gale warning for Ottawa County.
The Township Board of Trustees decided Thursday not to intervene and force the demolition of the home, saying they didn't want to set that precedent. Park Township Manager Howard Fink says it's the homeowner's responsibility.
