LIVONIA (WWJ) - The parents of a 3-month-old Livonia girl who were allegedly drunk when the infant died over the summer are now facing charges related to her death.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has filed charges of involuntary manslaughter and second-degree child abuse against Allen Abel, 46, and Kimberly Davidson, 40, in the death of their daughter, Makenna Abel, according to multiple reports.

The girl was unresponsive when police responded to the family's home on Rensellor Street, near 7 Mile and Inkster roads, on June 17. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Authorities say the infant died from apparent suffocation while in her parents' care. Both parents were intoxicated at the time, according to police.

Abel is currently in jail, serving a 3-5 year sentence for an operating while intoxicated charge from Nov. 2017. His earliest release date is July 2022, according to the Michigan Department of Corrections.

Davidson remains at large.
