(WWJ) Michigan State Police have a mystery on their hands after a man was found on the freeway, without a vehicle.

At around 8:20 p.m. Monday, troopers with the MSP Metro South post responded to the Davison Freeway on a report of a man seen lying on the freeway.

When police arrived they found the 28-year-old man injured, on the right shoulder of the eastbound Davison, west of I-75.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he's in stable condition with a broken pelvis, police said.

As the investigation continues, it's still unknown how the man ended up on foot or on the freeway.

The victim, whose name has not been released, told police that only remembers waking up on the shoulder.

There were no motorcycles or cars in the area, police said, although investigators did find a broken mirror from an unknown make and model vehicle.

Troopers also found the man's shoes nearby.

Anyone who has information on this incident is asked to call the MSP Metro South Post at 734-287-5000 or leave a tip on the MSP Mobile App.
