BAY COUNTY, Mich. (WWJ) -- A man is dead and a Michigan Department of Natural Resources officer is recovering after a wrong-way crash in Bay County Wednesday night.

Around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Bay County Sheriff's deputies were alerted of a wrong-way driver that was headed south out of Arenac County in the northbound lanes on I-75. Police say a person driving a white SUV collided with a DNR truck that was headed northbound around mile marker 174 near Fraser Township, according to a report from MLive.

An Iosco County man in his 70s who was driving the SUV died of his injuries, according to the sheriff's office.

It was not known whether the DNR officer, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash, was on-duty at the time of the incident.

Northbound I-75 remained closed in the area for several hours.
