DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are searching for two suspects who killed a man during a robbery attempt on the city's east side.
The incident happened around 9:10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 in the 18900 block of Hayes, just south of 7 Mile Road.
Investigators say the 46-year-old victim was sitting in his car with a passenger when one suspect approached the driver's side of the vehicle armed with a long gun. As the victim exited his vehicle, he and the suspect began wrestling over the gun.
The second suspect approached the passenger side of the vehicle and engaged in a physical altercation with the passenger, according to police. The suspect then allegedly pulled out a gun and fired shots across the vehicle, fatally wounding the victim.
Both suspects fled in an unknown direction and remain at large.
A surveillance camera in the area captured the moment the first suspect approached the victim's vehicle with a gun drawn. The other suspect was not pictured on surveillance footage. No physical descriptions were provided.
