DEARBORN (WWJ) - An arrest warrant has been issued for a 25-year-old man who allegedly tried to kill another man during a domestic dispute in a Dearborn home that was filled with people.
Police are searching for Jimmy L. Mitchell, described as a black male, 5'11" tall and 160 lbs. with brown eyes and black hair. He's known to frequent Detroit, Hamtramck and Dearborn Heights.
Mitchell is wanted on a 14 charges including first-degree home invasion, two counts of assault with intent to murder, two counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, four counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and five counts of felony firearm.
"This man is to be considered armed and dangerous Anyone who has any information on his whereabouts is asked to call Dearborn Police at 313-943-2241," Police Chief Ronald Haddad said in a statement. "Family and friends are encouraged to assist." Police say Mitchell is responsible for a shooting that happened around 3 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15 at a home on Boston and Banner streets, near Telegraph Road and Michigan Avenue. Four adults and five children were inside the home when Mitchell allegedly showed up and started an argument, during which a 24-year-old man was shot three times.
The victim was shot multiple times and was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
The mother of a woman who lives in the home, who did not want to be identified, said this isn't the first time they've had issues with Mitchell. He's her daughter's ex-boyfriend and the father of one of the children who was inside the home when the shooting took place.
"These men are out here now, they are hurting people because a woman don't like you or want to be with you. And that's ridiculous," she told WWJ's Mike Campbell.
