Man Stabbed Multiple Times At Downriver Mobile Home Park

BROWNSTOWN TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Police in Brownstown Township are trying to figure out what prompted a man to stab his friend multiple times during an attack at a mobile home park.

The incident unfolded around 5 a.m. Tuesday at a home on Briston Street in the Tanglewood Village manufactured home community, off Telegraph Road south of Van Horn Road.

The 20-year-old victim told police he was sleeping when he was suddenly attacked by his 19-year-old friend, who stabbed him repeatedly. Reports indicate the victim was stabbed more than 20 times.

"They were friends, were supposed to work together, and one of them woke up and just started attacking the other one," Chief Robert Matthews told WWJ's Mike Campbell. "He didn't say there was a fight. He woke up and just started stabbing him."

The victim was taken to the hospital and rushed into surgery. His current condition is unknown.

The suspect fled after the attack, but it didn't take long for police to find him.

"After the assault, he fled the residence on foot and showed up at one of our local hospitals, naked. He claimed he was in a car crash and obviously, that didn't pan out," said Matthews. "We arrested him. We had enough information and cause to arrest him on the assault."

Three young children were inside the home when the attack happened, but were not hurt.

At this time, police aren't sure what prompted the attack. It's unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved.

The incident remains under investigation.
