DETROIT (WWJ) - Polls are now closed on Election Day in Michigan.
The polls were open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with votes cast in mayoral races, city council elections and bond issues in many metro Detroit communities.
First off: It was a nail biter in Warren as election results were totaled in Michigan's third largest city's closely-watched mayoral race. Incumbent Mayor Jim Fouts was trailing challenger Kelly Colegio with 47 of 49 precincts reporting. Absentee ballots were then tallied, giving Fouts 57% of the vote overall. (Read more here).
Meanwhile, over in Flint, MIRS is reporting that Rep. Sheldon Neeley has defeated Mayor Karen Weaver to be the city's next mayor, 56% to 43%, with 99% of precincts reporting.
In Oakland County, mayor's races are taking place in Berkley, Clawson, Farmington Hills, Ferndale, Madison Heights, Northville, Novi, Rochester Hills, Royal Oak, South Lyon and Troy. Keego Harbor and Walled Lake are asking residents if there should be regulations on the sale of marijuana. Five school districts also have tax proposals before voters.

In Wayne County, several communities have bond or millage proposals for police, fire services and schools. School districts on the ballot include Dearborn, Grosse Pointe, Van Buren and others.Voters in Allen Park are being asked to weigh-in on an ordinance on marijuana establishments and regulations related to pot businesses. Voters will elect new mayors in Allen Park, Flat Rock, Livonia and Melvindale as the current mayors are not running. (There are no elections being held in the city Detroit).

In Macomb County, residents in 11 cities will decide on city leaders and a few school proposals. Mayor's races are taking place in Warren, New Baltimore, Mount Clemens, Memphis and Eastpointe. In Sterling Heights, voters are being asked for millage renewals for police and fire services as well as street improvements. A number of school districts are also asking for money, including Anchor Bay, Eastpointe, Romeo and more.
