(WWJ) A flash of movement, a shadow really, seems to cross quickly on the rails of a portable crib. The baby inside, sucking on her pacifier, pops up her head and seems to follow the movement as the shadow trails into nothingness, absorbed by the night.
That moment caught on a nanny cam in their child's room in Highland, Mich., has convinced a young couple that their house is haunted. And they want out.
Parents Heather Brough, 25, and her fiance Josh Higgins, 30, had set up the camera after their baby girl Lily had unexplained scratches on her cheek. The marks were livid, purple, and the parents couldn't figure out what had caused them.
Then they saw what they believe to be a ghost.
The couple called a paranormal investigator, who they say confirmed the place is haunted. They occupy the guest house on his mother's property, and she says the former owner of the home was an elderly lady who lay with a broken hip for 'a very long time' until she was found dead at the bottom of the stairs.
Her schizophrenic brother lived in the guesthouse until his death some years later.
Ms Brough told Daily Mail: 'This is a spirit - I don't know what its intentions are but at this point it's becoming physically harmful. This has made us want to leave as soon as possible. As soon as possible we're out of here."
In addition to the shadow in the baby's room, the parents claim they've had other experiences including the sounds of screaming, stomping, and laughing. Heather Brough reported she was once awoken by the sound of a man shouting.
While they look for a new place to live, the couple says they've decided to never leave Lily in a room by herself.
