(WWJ) A U.S. Senator from Michigan describes President Donald Trump as "very unstable."
In explaining why she believes Michiganders should vote for Democratic presidential contender Joe Biden, Michigan Senior Sen. Debbie Stabenow, a Democrat, used this phrase: "You should cast a vote for sanity and competence."
That loaded statement led WWJ Lansing Bureau Chief Tim Skubick to ask, "Did you just indirectly call Mr. President insane?"
To that, Stabenow replied: "I think that we have a very unstable president."
"What does that mean?" Skubick pressed.
"I would just leave it at that," Stabenow said. "No one would look at this and say that this is um, stable, stability. I mean, it just...it isn't."
On the contrary, President Trump — when his stability was questioned in the past — famously declared himself a "very stable genius."
More recently, Trump pointed to a passing score he received on a Cognitive Assessment test he said demonstrates his lucid, or even superior mental state.
Stabenow's comments come one day after, during an unprecedented virtual convention, the Democratic Party officially nominated Biden to face off against Trump in the November election.
