DETROIT (WWJ) -- A suspected drunk driver is in custody after crashing into a Michigan State Police car early Sunday morning.
Shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday, MSP troopers were on the scene of a traffic crash on the southbound lanes of the John C. Lodge Freeway near W. Chicago Boulevard. Troopers were in the right lane providing a traff screen to protect the crash when their patrol car was struck by a 2008 Mazda.
A 22-year-old woman from Taylor fled the scene on foot, but was apprehended a short distance from the scene of the crash.
Police suspected the woman of being intoxicated and gave her field sobriety tests, which she failed.
The woman was arrested and submitted to a breath test. She was lodged at the Detroit Detention Center.
Police say there were no injuries reported in the incident.
It was not clear whether the woman has been charged with driving under the influence.
