(WWJ) A new warehouse club, similar to Costco and Sam's Club, is getting ready to open in Macomb County.

BJ's Wholesale Club announced it will open its new store on Town Center Blvd. near M-59 and I-94 in Chesterfield Township on Friday, July 31st.

"We're excited to open our doors at the end of July and provide our community with the convenience and value of a BJ's membership," Malika Harris, General Manager of BJ's Wholesale Club, said in the press release. "The safety of our members, team members and community is always our top priority. Our team members have been working hard to prepare for the opening with additional operational safety protocols to ensure a healthy and safe shopping environment."

Shoppers and store employees will be required to wear masks.  Workers in specific positions will also have gloves, face shields and safety goggles. Plexiglass barriers will be installed to separate workers and customers, according to the press release.

The release states workers will have their temperatures checked at the beginning of their workday. If they have a fever, they will not be allowed in. Any worker or customer who feels ill is asked to stay home.

The Westborough, Massachusetts based company says it is up to 25% cheaper than most grocery stores and "coupon-friendly." They say BJ's also offers gas savings, online sales, curbside pick-up and same-day grocery delivery.

This will be the third BJ's Warehouse Club in Metro Detroit. Its other locations are in Taylor and Madison Heights.
