(WWJ) There will be no watersliding or lazy river walking at Oakland County parks this summer.

Due to COVID-19, Oakland County Parks and Recreation says Red Oaks Waterpark in Madison Heights and Waterford Oaks Waterpark in Waterford will not open for the 2020 season.

"Social distancing cannot be achieved by swimmers in a wave pool or other water attractions," reads a message posted to both parks' websites. "Oakland County Parks and Recreation made this decision with input from the Oakland County Health Division."

"We look forward to seeing you at the waterparks in 2021. Thank you for your patience."

Guests who have already purchased 2020 Waterparks Season passes for either waterpark can keep their passes to use for the 2021 season, or passholders can get a full refund by calling 248-858-0916 or sending an email to rpsreservation@oakgov.com.

In addition, Orion Oaks Dog Park, Lyon Oaks Dog Park and Red Oaks Dog Park are closed, as well as Red Oaks Nature Center, Wint Nature Center, Springfield Oaks Activity Center, Waterford Oaks Activity Center and Lookout Lodge at least through May 31. Programming is canceled at the Oakland County Farmers Market, although the market remains open. All events, programs and mobile recreation services are also suspended through the end of the month.

As for the parks that remain open, entry is free though June 1. Check the Oakland County Parks website for updates here.
