DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities are searching for two men, one who was impersonating a police officer, in connection with a fatal shooting during a home invasion on Detroit's west side.
The incident happened around 5 a.m. Wednesday in the 15400 block of Stout, in a neighborhood off Evergreen Road just north of Fenkell Avenue. According to police, two suspects forced their way into the home after kicking in the front door.
Once inside, one suspect allegedly confronted the 29-year-old victim and demanded cash, which the victim advised he didn't have any. Meantime, a witness who was inside of the home confronted the second suspect, who allegedly identified himself at a Detroit Police officer.
At some point, the first suspect shot and killed the victim, according to police. Both suspects then fled the home in an unknown direction.
The first suspect, the gunman, is described as a black male wearing a light or white colored face mask.
The second suspect is described as a black male 6-feet tall and 200 lbs., wearing a dark jacket, dark pants, black skull cap, and white or light face mask.
