GROSSE POINTE PARK (WWJ) -- An attorney from Grosse Pointe Park has been ordered to give up internet access and screens after being arraigned on more than two-dozen child pornography charges.
Michigan State Police arrested 41-year old Nelson Ropke after an investigation at his home on Harcourt Road allegedly turned up photos and videos with child sexually abusive images.
Investigators said Ropke used photos of family members and pasted them onto child porn pictures to view and share with others. He's also accused of recording himself and his wife engaged in sexual acts before posting them online. Ropke was already on probation out of Grosse Pointe Farms.
Prosecutor Kym Worthy said in a statement “There are many times in this job where we encounter alleged facts where you wonder how some people can sink to certain levels of depravity. This is one of those cases."
He received a $1 million cash bond, with GPS tether required if he does post bond and is released.
Ropke was ordered to surrender his passport and all devices with cameras, to have no access to devices with internet usage, no contact with anyone under 18 years of age, and no contact with specified family members.
His next court date is a probable cause conference scheduled for May 5.
