Police: Driver Intentionally Crossed Centerline To Crash Into Innocent Motorist

FRENCHTOWN TWP. (WWJ) - Authorities say an early morning crash in Monroe County was caused by a driver who deliberately struck an innocent motorist. 

The crash happened around 6 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of North Monroe Street and Hurd Road, just south of Nadeau Road in Frenchtown Township. 

According to police, a Chevrolet Equinox driven by the suspect was traveling north on Monroe when the suspect intentionally crossed the centerline and drove toward a Toyota Camry that was traveling south Monroe.

The driver of the Toyota attempted to avoid the suspect, but the two vehicles collided.  

The suspect and both occupants of the Toyota were transported to area hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries.  

Monroe Street was closed for a short time while police were investigating, but has since reopened to traffic.

The suspect could be facing charges of attempted second-degree murder.
