ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - Not even the coronavirus can stop Ann Arbor’s annual celebration of all things pot.
Since 1972, those pushing for marijuana legalization have met in Ann Arbor every April for the Hash Bash. This year’s event is still happening, but the high times are going high-tech as the festivities will now take place virtually.
This year's gathering is prohibited under the "Stay Home, Stay Safe" executive order, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, so instead of gathering at the Diag on the University of Michigan campus, the Hash Bash will live streamed from remote locations.
The online event will kick off at noon on Saturday, April 4 at PlanetGreenTreesTV.com or HypedUpLiveSessions.com. After a virtual rally, the broadcast will transition into music, comedy and live interviews.
The virtual event will feature many scheduled guests, including actor Tommy Chong, former Red Wing Darren McCarty and poet and activist John Sinclair.
