An investigation determined that the last contact with Oaks was via text message at approximately 11:58 a.m.

The pair hasn't been seen or heard from since. The boat they were fishing in, a camo colored 1996 Grumman 14-foot aluminum duck boat with hull #0MCL2931C696, is also missing.

Police found Oaks' vehicle parked at the marina boat launch with an empty boat trailer attached to it, but saw no signs of the father and son.

Oaks was last seen wearing a tan vest and blue jeans, while Jaxon was wearing a camouflage jacket. It's unclear if they were wearing life preservers.

A Michigan State Police dive team was unsuccessful locating the pair on Monday.
