DETROIT (WWJ) -- The Southfield Freeway is open again after an investigation lasted more than five hours, following a fatal pedestrian crash.
The crash, which left the southbound lanes of M-39 closed at Grand River Avenue from around 6 p.m. to around 11:30, happened around Schoolcraft.
According to police, a 36-year-old man was attempting to cross from the east side of M-39 to the west side. He crossed the northbound side and was attempting to cross the southbound lanes when he was struck by two vehicles.
The man was declared dead at the scene.
Troopers are continuing to investigate this crash and also locate any family members.
