State Police: Drunk Driver Caught Going Wrong Way On I-96

BRIGHTON (WWJ) - A Commerce Township man is in custody after police say he was driving drunk in the wrong direction on I-96.

According to Michigan State Police, 911 callers reported seeing the a wrong-way driver traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-96 near Kensington Rd., early Saturday morning  


A BOL ("Be on the lookout") was issued, and the 39-year-old suspect was pulled over by MSP troopers near Brighton. 

He was found to be intoxicated, police said, was arrested and taken to the the Livingston County Jail to await expected charges, including Operating While Intoxicated (OWI).

No one was injured. 

The man's name is being withheld pending an arraignment.
