(WWJ) A suspect in a deadly shooting near Central Michigan University is in custody.
Announcing the arrest late Tuesday afternoon, Mt. Pleasant Police said charges are pending against the person; and no information about the alleged shooter was immediately released.
Investigators said 21-year old Raven Edelen of Wyoming, Michigan, near Grand Rapids, after he was shot inside an apartment. The shooting happened before 6 p.m. Monday at Campus Habitat, in the 700 block of Edgewood Drive, not far from campus.
Officials confirmed that Edelen was a CMU student.
Officers, who spoke with witnesses and the scene and quickly identified a person of interest, said this was not random crime.
A possible motive for the killing has not been released.
The Mt. Pleasant Police Department was assisted by Michigan State Police, Isabella County Sheriff's Department, Central Michigan University Police, Mobile Medical Response and Mid-Michigan Investigative Narcotics Team.
