Suspect Hit With Object During Home Invasion, Critically Injured

DETROIT (WWJ) - A man who broke into a home on Detroit's west side wound up in the hospital fighting for his life after someone inside the home hit him with an object. 

The incident happened around 4:50 a.m. Tuesday in the 16700 block of Asbury Park, south of McNichols Road between the Southfield Freeway and Greenfield Road. 

The suspect, a 37-year-old Taylor man, allegedly broke into a home through a front picture window. As the suspect was entering the location, someone inside allegedly struck him with a blunt object.

The suspect was arrested and taken into custody by arriving officers. He was also taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries and listed in critical condition.

Circumstances surrounding the incident are still being investigated.
