14-Year-Old Girl Among Those Arrested For Opening Fire At Detroit Cops; Police Searching For 4th Suspect [PHOTO+VIDEO]

(WWJ) Detroit police need help to identify and locate a man suspected of shooting at officers on the city's west side in an incident that landed two men -- and a 14-year-old girl -- behind bars.

Assistant Detroit Police Chief David Lavalley said more than ten gunshots were fired from someone in a white Kia Sorrento, as officers were working an investigation outside a motel on Telegraph Rd. near 6 Mile Rd.. early Tuesday morning.

The officers had to dive for cover, but none of them were hit.

Three suspects were arrested a shot time later after they crashed in a white Kia Sorrento during a chase.

The fourth suspect  — seen in security camera footage at a gas station  — remainded at large on Friday.

He is described as a Black male, with long dreadlock braids, wearing a black shirt, orange shorts, and brown shoes and armed with a long gun.

As for a motive, Lavalley said: "There's not much of a logical explanation."

This comes amid increased tensions and widespread anti-police protests following the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police, and just days after Jacob Blake was shot numerous times in the back by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Lavalley told reporters Thurday: "Regardless of how someone feels about what's going on in the country right now, there are peaceful ways to protest. We encourage peaceful protesting. There are avenues for people to lobby for change in policy and in government. Taking it to the street with guns is not the appropriate response."

Anyone who can ID this man, who knows of whereabouts, or has any information about this crime is asked to call Detroit Police at 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak Up (1-800-773-2587). As always, all those calling Crime Stoppers will remain 100% anonymous.
