MILFORD, Mich. (WWJ) -- Thousands of metro Detroiters were left without power Sunday afternoon.

DTE Energy says at the peak of the outage, more than 4,000 customers in parts of Milford, Holly, Fenton and Whitmore Lake lost power.

In Milford, there were about 1,700 homes and businesses without power because of wind damage. DTE tells WWJ the wind knocked down a power line at Main and Huron, causing all of the railroad barriers in the village to lock in the downward position.

In Whitmore Lake, it was a tree that took down a power line and caused about 900 to lose power.

All issues were corrected by 7:30 p.m.
