DETROIT (WWJ) - The holiday shipping season is over. Or is it?
UPS has dubbed January 2 as National Returns Day. UPS expects 1.9 million returns will take place Thursday through the UPS network -- a 26% increase from last year.
The volume of record breaking returns shows how e-commerce has affected how consumers buy during the holidays.
Research from UPS's 2019 pulse of the online shopper study found that:
- 73% of shoppers surveyed say the overall returns experience impacts their likelihood to purchase from a retailer again
- 68% say that their experience returning items shapes their perception of a retailer
- 42 % say a free return shipping contributes most to a positive returns experience
