DETROIT (WWJ) - A 17-month-old girl has died after being backed over by a car on Detroit's northwest side this morning.
According to Detroit police, it happened shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday as the toddler's 22-year-old mother was pulling out of the driveway of their home on Faust Ave., near the Southfield Freeway and 7 Mile Rd.
It's believed that the mom didn't see the child, and that this was a tragic accident.
The little girl was rushed to a local hospital where she died of her injuries.
No names have been released.
It's unclear if any charges are possible as the investigation continues.
