(WWJ) Some can't help but wonder what her Tinder profile would look like after a woman was released from jail -- and free to date again -- after stabbing her boyfriend to death during a consensual sexual encounter gone wrong.
Anastazia Schmid, now 45, walked out of prison a free woman after 18 years behind bars. She stabbed her boyfriend Tony Heathcote 39 times in 2001.
She was convicted after claiming she had "psychotic break" in the bedroom while engaged in sex play with a knife and blindfold.
"During the attack, Schmid heard a voice telling her that Heathcote was evil and needed to be eliminated," the Lafayette Journal & Courier reported.
Her original 50-year sentence was abandoned after the U.S. District Court found that Schmid was mentally unfit for trial and unable to understand what was happening in the courtroom because of ineffective counsel.
She was allowed to plea bargain to a lesser charge, which effectively set her free with time served. Factoring in credit for good behavior and other time-cut credits, she was released Tuesday morning after 18 years.
During Monday's hearing, Schmid took responsibility for the killing, expressed remorse, and apologized to the victim's family.
She plans to relocate to the Indianapolis area.
