(WWJ) A man is in jail after allegedly kidnapping a woman and robbing her at knifepoint in Pontiac.

The Oakland County Sheriff said deputies arrived in the area of Linda Vista Drive and Joslyn Road to find the victim, 52 , lying in the road with her eyes swollen shut from pepper spray around 7:30 pm Thursday,

She told deputies she had been at a friend's house on Monticello near Telegraph and M-24 when the suspect, 27, and his girlfriend, 24, came inside claiming the victim owed him an unspecified amount of money; according to a press release.

Investigators told WWJ the suspect forced her into his van and pulled out a knife. The suspect's girlfriend drove the van around for about a half an hour while he held the knife to the victim and threatened to kill her.

He stole her cellphone and other "personal items" before spraying her with pepper spray and pushed her out of the van, according to the Oakland County Sheriff.

A Good Samaritan saw her being pushed from the car and called 9-1-1.

The Oakland County Sheriff said the victim refused treatment for her injuries.

Deputies arrested both the suspect and his girlfriend. She was released pending further investigation. He is currently being held at the Oakland County Jail awaiting charges.
