Woman Robbed At Gunpoint After Getting Into Fender Bender On Detroit's East Side

DETROIT (WWJ) - A woman who got into a fender bender on Detroit's east side ended up being the victim of an armed robbery.

The incident unfolded around 8 p.m. Friday in the area of Carrie Avenue and Iowa Street, near Van Dyke and Nevada Avenue.


The 46-year-old victim told police she made a turn at the intersection when the suspect, who was driving a white vehicle with a plastic bag over the rear window, bumped her vehicle.

The victim and suspect exited their vehicles. At that point, the suspect produced a weapon and demanded the woman's purse and jewelry, according to police. After getting what he wanted, the suspect escaped in an unknown direction.

The woman was not injured.

No suspect description was provided.
