DETROIT (WWJ) - Police are asking for help to identify and locate a woman who threw food at a Detroit bus driver, then caused her to crash.
The bizarre incident was caught on video, late in the afternoon of Saturday, December 29, on the city's east side.
According to investigators, the suspect waked up from the rear of a Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) bus and began throwing what looks like nachos at the driver.
As seen in the video released by police, the suspect then grabbed the driver, pulled her out of her seat and wrestled her to the ground — all while the bus continued to travel westbound on Mack Ave.
The bus eventually crashed into an electrical box and a "One Way" sign, coming to a stop in a vacant lot located at the corner of Mack and Bewick. The suspect was retrained by another passenger, police said but later escaped the bus through a window. She fled foot southbound on Bewick between vacant homes on the north side of the street.
It's unclear what may have prompted the attack. No one else on the bus was injured. The suspect is described as a black female who may go by the name "Dee Dee." She is around 5'4'' tall and 165 lbs., with a medium complex. She was wearing black shoes, black pants, a black hooded sweater and a green coat.
