SHELBY TOWNSHIP., Mich. (WWJ) -- An investigation is underway after a young girl had a close call with a school bus while .
A 5-year-old girl was one of several students to get off the bus near the area of Cypress Street and Culver Drive, near 21 Mile and Schoenherr Roads. As the students began to cross the road, the bus began to drive forward and hit the girl, according to multiple reports.
She was knocked to the ground, but not injured, police told WWJ. The driver of the bus immediately reported the incident and first responders showed up to the scene.
Surveillance video from a Ring Doorbell caught the incident on camera and shows the mother of the little girl screaming from her front porch, before jumping off and running toward the bus.
The Utica Community Schools District has reportedly placed the bus driver on administrative leave and is investigating the incident.
Several other children and their families were in the area and witnessed the incident.
Police told WWJ authorities are still investigating what led to the incident.
