STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Authorities say a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed while trying to cross 15 Mile Road in Sterling Heights.
The accident happened around 9 p.m. Friday in the area of 15 Mile and Tiffany Drive, just east of Van Dyke Avenue.
A Dodge Caravan, reportedly driven by a 71-year-old woman, was traveling west on 15 Mile when it struck a woman who was apparently crossing the road in an area without a crosswalk.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released.
The driver was not injured. Police say she has been cooperating with the investigation, which is ongoing.
