Police Release Surveillance Footage Of Suspect's Vehicle In Shooting Of 3-Year-Old

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Michigan State Police on Friday released surveillance video and photos of the vehicle authorities say belongs to the person who fatally shot and killed a three-year-old boy in Detroit Thursday night.

The toddler was shot shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday while riding in a car with his godmother on the Southfield Freeway near Joy and Plymouth Roads. Authorities say the suspect fired a single shot that went through the rear driver's side door and struck the boy between the shoulder blades.

The boy, whose name has not yet been released, was taken to nearby Sinai-Grace Hospital in critical condition and went into emergency surgery, but succumbed to his injuries at Children's Hospital Friday morning.

It is seen turning right at an intersection just off the Southfield Freeway shortly after the shooting.

Anyone who recognizes the vehicle or has any information about the shooting is asked to contact the MSP Metro South Post at 734-368-8290.
