MOUNT MORRIS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWJ) -- Police in the Flint area say a social media post has potentially saved a life after a six-year-old girl posted photos on Facebook of her dead father and unconscious stepmother Thursday night.

Police say the girl's grandparent, who lives in Tennessee, saw the photos online and contacted police, who promptly went to the scene in the 1200 block of Oleander Drive.

Authorities believe the adults overdosed on drugs, but are unsure what kind of drugs they were or where they came from.

The child's stepmother, 36, was taken to a hospital, where she is stable, but is in intensive care and is unable to talk to police. The girl is now with her biological mother.

Reports say the girl may have been in the home for up to 24 hours after the overdoses.

Police say a pit bull had been gnawing on the 40-year-old man's face, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The names of the adults have not been released, as next of kin have not been notified.
