DETROIT (WWJ) - A Detroit family is concerned for the safety of a teenage boy who disappeared nearly a week ago.

Tahj Hunter, 16, has never gone missing before, according to Detroit police, who are seeking tips from the public to find the teen.

Hunter was last seen by his father on Monday April 2, 2019 around noon in the 500 block of Annin, in the area of John R. Road and W. State Fair, just before the dad took a nap.

When the father awoke at astound 4:30 p.m., police said, he discovered that Hunter was gone, having left a note for his younger brother saying he was gonna miss him.

The family is especially worried, police say, because he left his cell phone and does not have his medication.

Hunter is described as black male, around 5'7 tall and 165 lbs with a medium brown complexion. He's thinly built, with a medium afro hairstyle, a thin mustache and some facial hair on his chin. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded jogging set, light colored shoes and carrying a blue book bag and a black book bag.

If anyone has seen Tahj Hunter or knows of his whereabouts, they are asked to please call Detroit Police Department's 12th Precinct at 313-596-1240 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP (1-800-773-2587)
